Have you ever heard of a dog with anxiety issues? One that carries around his blanket everywhere? We bet you haven’t.
We bring before you the story of Elena and Russell, who own a cute little pup called Myko.
Myko deals with severe anxiety issues and, as a result, carries around his blanket everywhere with him.

According to the couple, when they had adopted Myko, he struggled a lot with anxiety issues and used to approach everything with great suspicion and caution. He displayed stiffness and nervousness in everything.
His perpetually scared state was saddening for his new parents, and they decided to take a few measures to help him cope.
The Comfort of Home
The first thing they tried was giving him a blue blanket as a way of making him feel ‘safe’ everywhere he went.

That worked a lot as Myko took to the blanket like a fish to water. He started to carry it around everywhere he went, and it seemed to make him feel more confident and less scared of things around him, especially outdoors.
They also took him on trips to his grandparents’ home, which was like a ‘vacation home’ for him. The old couple loved him a lot, and he seemed to enjoy being around them.
That was all going well, until one fourth of July night, when the sound of firecrackers seemed to double Myko’s usual anxiety issues and made him stay up all night, shivering from the sound.

All efforts to calm him went in vain, and in Elena’s words, ‘as a pet parent, it was the most difficult night’.
It was then that they realized that they needed a more permanent, long-term solution to Myko’s issues. And as they say, necessity is the mother of invention.
What did they do? Well, they gave Myko his own room, a personal space that he had all to himself.
Myko’s Boomie Roomie
They cleared out a closet under the stairs and made it into a corner room for the pup. They added soundproofing tiles to the walls, added a camp bed, and set up vines and twinkly lights all around. Bingo! This was to be Myko’s ‘boomie roomie’.

They showed him to his ‘new room’, and boy, did he love it! He liked it so much that he stayed most of the time there and spirits off there whenever he was disturbed by anyone or anything.
He was even eager to show the room to his grandparents when they came over for a visit. Much time has passed, and he has grown more confident and brave since then. He is now much more confident and walks around everywhere without any fear.
He even goes outside to play with the neighbor’s dog when he likes.

Now THAT’s what we call improvement, my dear! Stay strong and keep rocking dear Myko!
