Blind Old Dog Left Alone by Family  Finds a New Home

A dog is supposed to be man’s best friend. Yet some people not only neglect their pets, but also treat them in an abusive manner. They should be jailed, of course.

But wilful abusers apart, there are also people who straight up abandon their pets when they get old and/or disabled.

Sky’s owners were among those people. They brought her to a vet’s office one day and then left, saying that they no longer wanted anything to do with her. The vet found that Sky was in very bad shape.

She was blind in one eye and very malnourished, weighing only around thirty pounds. Overall, her condition was pitiable and it was evident that she was not very well cared for by the people who claimed to be her owners.

Good Dog-Dog Talk

She was admitted to the Good Dog-Dog Talk home in Brea, California. The staff there was shocked to see her condition. She was in such a bad state that the staff suspected that her owners only used her for breeding and subjected her to severe neglect.

In a statement to Newsweek, a spokesperson for the shelter home said, “With her allergies, overgrown nails, and [being] extremely skinny, it’s clear she spent her days neglected in a backyard. Most likely used for breeding and then tossed aside, Sky deserves so much more,”

She was scared and very timid when she was brought to the shelter, and understandably so. The staff gave her a nice bath and food to eat, which the hungry dog devoured hungrily.

After a while, when she was relaxed and was feeling more at ease, she sat in the lap of the staff, looking at the yard she was in. The environment was safe and gave her a sense of security.

A Call for Compassion

Gradually, over time, she has adjusted to her life in the kennel. She is very friendly with the staff and always reacts with excitement when she sees them coming towards her.

She is loved by everyone in the shelter and has even made many friends there, both among humans and other kennel dwellers.

Staff at the shelter posted a message on her TikTok that read, “She’s the sweetest, most gentle soul, just waiting for her golden years to be filled with love and comfort.”

The staff expressed hope that the sweet doggo would soon find a forever home, getting the love and care that she so greatly deserves.

Our hearts definitely break with sorrow at the ordeal suffered by this innocent doggo. Let’s hope she finds a great home soon!
